Animal ID: 17-151Harley (male)

Silky Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Harley is a 9 month old, 9 pound Silky Terrier Mix puppy. Harley needs a liver shunt operation to save his life. Harley is being fostered in Dunedin, FL. Initial bio 7-26-17 Meet Harley - United Yorkie Rescue's newest puppy. Imagine this, you are only 9 months old, still very young, just a puppy, and you are now in your third home. That is what Harley the puppy has already gone through. His first family knew he was getting sicker and sicker and they did nothing. He never saw the vet, he received no puppy care, and he was close to death. Thankfully for Harley, his second family saved him. They took him in and immediately rushed him to the ... (Read More)vet where he was diagnosed with pancreatitis, and then it was discovered Harley had a liver shunt - without surgery, he would likely die. As much as his second family loved him and wanted him, they were unable to afford this expensive operation after having already spent over a thousand dollars on his care, and they reached out to United Yorkie Rescue and we stepped up to help this little boy. But there were a few obstacles - somehow we had to get Harley from Alabama to Florida to get that much-needed surgery. It certainly took a village to do this. With help from another rescue group, a wonderful flight attendant, and the generosity of Delta Airlines, Harley made it to Florida and will soon get that much needed operation. Harley is just a puppy. He had such a rough start in his short life. Now it is time for everyone to step up and let Harley know that people won't let him down ever again. Please, whatever you can give, help United Yorkie Rescue give Harley the future he deserves. We can't do it alone. Reach into your hearts and into your pockets and make a donation to Harley and know you played an important part in saving his life. This is what Harley's foster mom had to say about her new little foster puppy: We know that Harley so far is a super, super, sweet little boy who loves and trusts everyone, despite having been abused in his short little life. We also know that he travels really well in a car, gets along great with other dogs and cats, and will sleep in his crate all night long. He also appears to be mostly house-trained. He loves to play fetch with his ball, and has been seen playing soccer with it all on his own. He's such a loving, trusting little guy, and you just can't help loving him as soon as you meet him. Rescue Me ID: 17-07-06-00326Smiley (female)

Silky Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Heartworm Positive

Smiley. Yep. That's the name for this Terrier dame. She's a 1.5 year old light brown 12.4 pound friendly girl. Unfortunately this poor girl didn't receive necessary preventatives and she is heartworm positive so we're getting her treatment underway. It's a reminder for us all to take care of our loved ones! She is friendly and gets along well with her current roommate, Winston. However she is food aggressive. Sometimes this happens when a pet doesn't know where their next meal is coming from so we're happy to let her dine alone while she learns what it's like to be loved and cared for. If you're interested in continuing the work we've begun ... (Read More)of showing her a different world, put your application in now to give Smiley her Forever Home. We are only able to adopt within the state of Florida. We have a page on our website that explains our adoption process, and contains a link to our adoption application.
