Silky Terrier Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Vaccinations Current

AGGIE was saved from GARLAND Animal Shelter on 12th March 2015. She had been an owner surrender and was scared out of her mind not having any idea why she was being dumped in a place that smelt of fear, death and disease. The shelter staff labelled her as 'Fearful Aggressive' and she was scheduled to be killed. When our volunteer went to pick her up to bring her to the safety of the rescue she said she almost jumped in her arms wanting to get out of that shelter. AGGIE was initially over-whelmed when she got to the rescue, but after a few days her confidence gained and she is now more than happy walking amongst all of the other rescue ... (Read More)dogs and running in-between their legs. AGGIE is very agile and can jump up on a bed that is 4 matterss high, she sleeps as close to me as she can and she is extremely loving and affectionate. She is a very smart girl and has been a very quick learner and would be a great joy to train properly. AGGIE is still fearful of strangers, so will most likely take a little warming up. She is not happy at vets office and when blood was being drawn for her heart-worm test, they felt the need to muzzle her. This, however, is not uncommon and so just something to mention to your vet when you take her for appointments, then your vet will work with her so she can gain his/her trust. AGGIE would make a GREAT lap pet, or companion for someone who wants constant love and affection to a beautiful soul that has been not had a good start to life. AGGIE is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, de-wormed, heart-worm tested negative and micro-chipped. She has an estimated age of 3 years and at the time of rescue weighed 13.80 pounds. AGGIE is available for adoption through Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue for an adoption fee of $300. If you are interested in adopting this precious girl and giving her the life she needs and deserves our application can be completed and submitted on our website under the APPLICATION tab. For more photo's of this beautiful saved soul, please click on her picture under the GSD tab. Although LOCATED in TEXAS we are using Rescue Road Trips LLC. and P.E.T.S. LLC, both highly reputable animal rescue transport companies to re-locate our dogs from rescue to meet their families along the East Coast (This allows us to save more dogs from the high rate kill shelters here in Texas). These are private companies and their transport fee's (which is paid directly to them) are $175 and $185 per dog. This fee is in addition to what you would pay the rescue for the adoption fee.     Silky Terriers originate in Australia. Silky Terriers are descended from and closely resemble Yorkshire Terriers. Silky Terriers have been officially recognized as their own breed in Australia since 1955. The Silky Terrier is also known as the Sydney Terrier. Silky Terriers became popular in the U.S. after World War II, when servicemen stationed in Australia brought the little dogs home.
