Scout is a an adorable 7 year old male Silky Terrier who weighs 14 lbs. He is being fostered in Ashland City, Tennessee. Scout has diabetes and because of this his body requires insulin shots twice a day. BEFORE YOU STOP READING KNOW THAT MILLIONS OF HUMANS AND DOGS HAVE DIABETES AND LIVE FULL LIVES. EVEN SMALL CHILDREN ARE SUCCESSFULLY TAUGHT EVERY DAY TO ADMINISTER THEIR OWN INSULIN INJECTIONS. IT IS NOT HARD TO DO! What does Scout have to say about getting his shots??? Scout says 'It's EZ-PEEZY'|'|And I don't mind ONE BIT and will sit quietly while I get them. Too bad I have only paws and not hands or I could give them to myself!' ... (Read More)Scout is a WONDERFUL SOUL! He is so sweet and you will not find a more loving dog ANYWHERE! If you love to cuddle, play and get lots of kisses then Scout is YOUR GUY! He is such a gentleman. He is great on a leash. Even though he has decreased vision because of his diabetes he doesn't let that stop him from a good walk'|..he has a great sniffer and gets along JUST FINE once he learns his surroundings. HE LOVES to PLAY, is housebroken and alerts at the door to be taken outside. Because of his diabetes Scout Does need to go out more frequently than a non-diabetic dog though. Scout's ideal home would be one where someone is home most of the time to let him out and give him his insulin every 12 hours. PLEASE DON'T FORGET ABOUT SCOUT BECAUSE HE IS DIABETIC. You know you are on this site looking for a rescue dog because it is a GREAT THING to Adopt a dog who is in need of a great home vs. buying from a breeder. Well Scout is a GREAT DOG looking for a GREAT ADOPTER who can overlook the fact that life has dealt him an unkind blow. YOU could be that EXTRA SPECIAL human who lets Scout know that there are those who care about special needs dogs and are willing to take a few extra steps each day to give them the wonderful FUREVER home they require. Perhaps you are even someone who has or loves a person who has diabetes and understands that it isn't that big a deal once you learn to manage it. SCOUT says he also willing to TEACH his new human everything they need to know about caring for him and it return he will give you a heart full of love and loyalty! (Less)

5 yrs. old, good with our 7 yr old but does growl at him sometimes and gets nervous around kids so better of with adults. Laid back, not very playful loves to be pet and to be in same room as his family. Good guard dog, barks when someone comes to door or visitors go upstairs. I am being proactive as I dont know how long it takes to place dogs and want to make sure i take my time so he goes to the right family. We have less and less time to spend with him as our schedules change, he is in crate most of the day and doesnt get much attention in evenings which we can tell is making him sad. We will also be traveling for extended periods of ... (Read More)time starting in December and dont have someone consistent to leave him with so we are doing what we feel is best for him. Prefer adult household with pleanty of time for him. (Less)
