Silkies do fine with children but do not like to be teased. This breed does not get along well with other pets. Silkies are full of energy and personality. Silky Terriers travel well. Silkies can live in an apartment if they get enough exercise.

Silky Terriers have been officially recognized as their own breed in Australia since 1955. The Silky Terrier is also known as the Sydney Terrier. Silky Terriers became popular in the U.S. after World War II, when servicemen stationed in Australia brought the little dogs home.
